The
Home Care Council of New York City is
a non-profit professional membership organization founded in 1980
and incorporated in 1983. The Council's mission is to promote and
improve the quality of home care to families, elderly, frail, and
disabled New Yorkers. The Council seeks to assist them in maintaining
their individual independence and quality of life in their community
as a cost effective alternative to institutionalization.
The
Council consists of home care agencies that are representative of
the diverse ethnic, cultural and religious communities of New York
City. The majority of our agencies are under contract with the New
York City Human Resources Administration to deliver in-home personal
care services to over 65,000 Medicaid eligible elderly, disabled,
and frail individuals and families. In addition to administrators,
registered nurses, personnel specialists and support staff, the
agencies also employ over 70,000 home attendants.
